DeGra - Degenerated graphite in spheroidal graphite cast iron
Evaluation of the influence of degenerate graphite on the cyclic material behavior of ductile cast iron for thick-walled components.
DeGra - Assessment of the influence of degenerated graphite on the cyclic material behavior of spheroidal graphite cast iron for thick-walled components.
In a project funded by the BMWi, the interacting influences of solidification time, silicon and interfering element contents of different cast iron alloys on the effect on the type and extent of graphite degenerations will be comprehensively investigated. A predictive model for graphite formation as a function of the influencing factors will be established.
Furthermore, the effects of interactions of interfering elements leading to a cancellation of graphite degenerations in nodular graphite cast irons will be investigated.
At the end of the project, recommendations for action should be available to prevent the formation of degenerated graphite.
