Graphite degeneration in spheroidal graphite cast iron
Evaluation of different graphite types in spheroidal graphite cast irons with regard to their influences on the static and cyclic strength properties.
The AiF-funded project deals with the effects on the static and cyclic properties of spheroidal graphite cast irons based on different basic microstructures, graphite deformation types and impurity or trace element contents. Of particular interest are the influences on the static and cyclic mechanical properties as well as the fracture mechanics.
In order to predict the above-mentioned influences on the static and cyclic mechanical properties of ductile cast iron, a material model is to be created as an evaluation criterion.
In addition, the transferability of such a model is to be tested using different types of cast material.
Finally, the project is to generate an evaluation criterion for different cast components with nodular graphite in order to be able to assess the possible applications in the event of graphite degeneration.
